Country Specific Domains Using Same Store

Hi,

I have searched the forums and found many topics but none match what I plan to do.

I have been running my website as a .co.uk for a couple years. Recently I decided to switch the domain to a .com

My question is I want to have both .co.uk and .com use the same database. Basically I want them both to be the same site but without one redirecting to the other. So when UK users google something and click on "show only sites within the UK" my sites shows up but when the rest of the world searches my .com shows up in the search results.

I also heard that this can cause google to throw me down a couple pages due to duplicate content.

Problem is I dont know what info is correct and cant seem to find it and dont know how to do this the "right way"

Any1 that has some insight on this that they can share their wisdom and help me out please?

While it is "technically" possible to run two domains off one database, it can be a compex affair - depending on how your hosting environment is set up.

Do you have a Google Account? And if so, are you (have you) set about configuring it to accommodate all the essential "bits" of your site?

Was there a good business reason for switching to COM ?

The reason is: monving countries in a couple months so will no longer be based in the UK.

Yes have a google webmaster account, crawler, sitemap etc all is set up on the co.uk. The com I recenlty formed.

for example in google.com if you type amazon you get amazon.com on the results but on google.co.uk if you type amazon you get amazon.co.uk in the top results.

Thats what i want functionality wise but without google banning for duplicate site content.
