Default Can't Set Up Administrator Email to be on Localhost

I'm installing Zen Cart locally for development and testing purposes.
I'm Running XAMPP on Windows 7. Zencart Version: v1.3.9h
I want to set it up so that Administrator's email is "admin@localhost".
However, Zen Cart setup says this email is not valid.
Is there anyway around this ?

I read through the threads and didn't find anything.

Maybe I didn't state my question clearly enough. Zen Cart's set-up screen is giving me this error message -- that "admin@localhost" is not a valid email.

I need a valid email because I've already made a login error once and had to reinstall from scratch.

However, if Zen Cart does not support localhost email, then I can't use a local development environment. Which means I need to look for another cart I can work with...

    Any help would be appreciated.

Zencart looks for an address in the format [email protected]. Most folks who install local copies wait until they move their site to a remote server to test email. I'd be surprised if any cart or other software) would behave the way you've described.

So as far as you know, there is no workaround to make Zen Cart use a localhost email address for admin.

( I am fine with waiting to test email till I moved to a remote server.
The problem is not testing email. The problem is what happens if I make a mistake logging in and am denied access to the work I've done - because there is no way for Zen Cart to send me login information. )

Zen Cart doesn't allow use of email addresses without a TLD such as .com.

So, you can fix that either by using an email address from an external domain, or you can configure your local environment to actually have a domain name which uses a TLD. Instructions on configuring your local environment with domain names can be found in the help documentation that comes with your local environment software.

Ah -- thanks much. I didn't know that -- but it makes sense.
