Ditto what the others have said.
When I built my first site back in 1997, I though music would be cool. Now, when I go to the wayback machine and look at the site in their archives I can't help but laugh at myself. That was just one of the many lame aspects to my early efforts.![]()
How long would it be before that retro feel became cool again?
Not yet, I guess.....
Let's all start using comic sans again too. Oh, and blink, that was cool. What about a cool splash page with music, comic sans and some blinking text that takes several minutes to load and has no way to sidestep it?
Hands up who hasn't committed a crime against sensibility at some point.

If my first site could walk you'da seen it stepping down the street in platform heels, bell-bottoms and a disco collar with a 3 foot long boom-box hoisted up on its shoulder. How YOU doin?I chased every fad out there. Then google came along and I saw that plain white background with the simple search box and realized I'd been led astray by all the bling. Now I like it simple.
I used blinking text. And scrolling text. And, a nice big Link Exchange banner. And, ALL kinds of little icons. But, in my defense, I sucked at this stuff.Oh, and blink, that was cool.![]()

I used to think that FRAMES were the coolest idea ever. I just loved having scrollbars all over the screen, and give the impression that you have a static sidebar, and a dynamic content area.
I only grew out of using them in 1995.
As the precursor to most CMS platforms, I suppose it was useful in its time.
