Total number of products showing though set to false.

I notice that my bookstore has suddenly started displaying the total quantity available for just two products. I checked the settings at
1. Go to: Admin > Catalog > Categories/Products
2. Choose the product type of the products whose display you want to edit (this will affect all products with that type)
3. Click the "Edit Layout" button and a whole list of layout choices will come up, including Show Quantity!
4. Change that to FALSE

and verified that it is set to false. What could explain this odd behavior.

I found the problem and fixed it. Somehow the products qty field was typed into Products Units field and the store was forcing the customers to buy everything!!! It is fixed now
