Adding a News Box On the Home Page

Hi all I am new here, this is the first website for me... Im building it for myself and learning as I go. I would like to add a "News" box on the home screen above featured products, I am certain there is a way but could anyone shed some light on this. I keep seeing where it says you can change it in the code or something like that but even that Im not sure how to do.

You can code a box like that using HTML by editing includes/languages/english/html_includes/premium1a/define_main_page.php, either manually with an FTP program and a text editor or by using the Admin - Tools - Define Pages Editor.

I don't know anything as far as HTML goes so maybe using a template would be best can you recommend any?
