How to add additional header on Index page?

I have current version of zen cart. I want to add an additional header on the Index (home) page. It would be below the Tagline and above the white space (see store) - http://www.blueskyframes.com/store. There is a space below the logo and company name and above the white space. I was going to put color in the white space, but decided it was okay as is. It gives a natural break without being too harsh on the eyes. The header would be centered in the page width. I would need an on/off switch in Admin to control it. A file to make and store different announcements for use in the header. There is space available, but I need to know if it is possible?

You can use the Banner Manager to control different content in the bottom of the header. Try header position 2 or 3.

Configuration > Layout Settings > Banner Display Groups - Header Position 2

Tools > Banner Manager
