send order without payment

This will be for a new installation of ZenCart

I would like to set up the shop so that it takes and sends orders, but then I contact the customer and take credit card details over the phone- is this possible?

Note- I don't want them to phone me, I want to choose my time to phone them, having received their order.

I don't know if it's possible, but it's a bad idea that will cost you business. In this day and age, shoppers will not suffer inconvenience. They'll simply move on to the next site.

I agree RescoCCC but that's what the client wants!!

I expect he will change his mind if there are results. I could use showcase with prices but it doesn't collect and order.

You can rename the Check/Money order payment module to something else and fiddle with the text to say something like, "We're all about what's convenient for us, so sit by your phone and wait for us to call you if you want to buy from our store." The order will go through without payment made at the time.

Also, make sure you get paid by this guy up front - he won't be in business long.

Ive used the cash on delivery module to do this. Contrary to what other people are saying, we have alot of customers still using this method. Simply some people can still be wary of entering card details online, or just want to speak to an agent on the end of the phone.

That makes some sense, but do any those customers require the buyer to wait to be called by the store after placing an order ? I can't imagine anyone putting up with that.

Yes, thats right they do. Maybe they are doing to to 'secure' an order incase it goes out of stock, I don't know. But quite a few people do it.

That's fine as an option in addition to the ability to pay directly online. But as the only option, it is a terrible idea.

The client has what appears to be a thriving business in a niche market where he can identify his possible customers and contact them personally. This will be his first venture online and I have explained to him that the shop should accept online payment but . . . .

Of interest, I bought a camera recently online and the store called me by phone to verify the order, it is their policy. This assured me I hadn't bought from a shonky dealer.

As you know, there are many discount camera stores, this was the best price so I would think they had a good turnover yet their policy is to verify each order by phone- I would certainly buy from them again.

Different strokes, I guess, but I would have cancelled the order and bought elsewhere. My CC info is legit, and I wouldn't appreciate the implication otherwise. Chargebacks are a cost of doing business.
