I about to install a non-official patch on zencart soam backing everything up

I have downloaded all the the sites files and made a backup of the mysql database, is that everything?

also

im not sure if my host restores the password as well when you restore a database from a backup so how do i find out the password zencart uses to connect to its database?

What do you mean by "non-official"...? Everything about OS is "non-official".

Anyway... I would do it a little differently.

I would reate a CLONE of the site (files and database) and run my "unofficial" stuff of the clone. If (after rigorous testing) my hack hasn't broken anything, then we try it on the live site.

It takes about 7 minutes to CLONE your full site. Much safer... rather the CLONE crashed down than the live site.
