selling fractions for product quantity

I am trying to fix an issue in the shopping cart. I cannot sell a fraction. I have changed the settings as described in a closed post:

or convert to all decimal admin > config > stock > Product Quantity Decimals > enter 2 or 3

Then sell 20.125 or 5.5 or?

This did not work when i tried it on the site www.fabricnhobby.com ,it still will not let a customer purchase this. I really need some help with this

If you have your Minimum set to 0.125 ... what are your Units set to?

Ok, I fixed the units to .125 which is my minimum qty. It works. But new questions arise from this. I am selling yards and fractions. I have set the pricing as price per yard. It now shows the unit as .125 in the box under my qty on hand of that product. It also looks like it is only sold as .125 at 3.99 and what was 6 yards in stock looks like 6 units of .125. Can this be changed? If so where will I do this? Also, if someone buys 2 yards will it remove 2 yard from inventory? Or will it remove 2 units of .125? I do not want to confuse my customers. If all of your Products are yards ... then change your language file in your templates and overrides so that you have the:
Units in Stock

read instead:
Yards in Stock

Only the fabric will be sold like this. I will have other items that will be sold as one unit... like scissors, for example. But i do need to know how it will remove the qty from stated inventory as in the question above.

To remove it for everything, then go to the Catalog ... Product Type ... and hit the EDIT LAYOUT button and change the:

Show Quantity in Stock
Display Quantity in Stock on Product Info 0= off 1= on
