Shipping calculated by postcode and weight

Hi there, can anyone help me on this?

I want a shipping module that will compute based on the postcode and the total weight of the products purchased. In the estimate shipping, the customer will have to input first the destination postcode (if not logged in) for him/her to know the shipping cost, just like the australia post module. We have our own computation for shipping, thats why I think australia post doesnt suit to us.

Is it possible for me to have my own calculations in the australia post module by commenting out the server? or is there anyway for me to achieve the module that I want? If I am going to clone a module,what will be the best module to use?

I am using zencart v1.3.9h.
