There are some modules I'd like to install and all state a backup should be done first - which I think is an excellent best practice.
I've taken the backup, but have no idea on how to actually run the patch. How would I do that?
Sorry for being so basic.

You can do it from directly inside your Zen Cart admin under Tools > Install SQL patches.
Or you can go into your hosting phpMyAdmin, open the database you need, and import or run SQL from there.

If you do so via Tools-Install SQL then you shouls copy and paste the content of the SQL file into the box rather than using the UPLOAD option as this can sometimes fail. Good luck :-)
