turn off shipping?

I have quite a few post on the shipping error i am recieving. But me, the book, or fellow zenners cannot figure out why it is throwing me this error. I turned off my store and put it in the Matiance mode for the time. Is there any way to turn off all the shipping options on the checkout so people may browse but will have to call me for sales? I really do not want to dump the cart and start all over again. I have a lot of hours invested in this, but i cannot have people trying to purchase and reciveing the message I am not shipping to their region?

I think the fact that the dropdown only says "Ohio" is a clue to what's going on.

You could put the store in "showcase" mode for the time being.

admin>configuration>customer details>Customer Shop Status - View Shop and Prices

Customer must be approved to shop
0= Not required
1= Must login to browse
2= May browse but no prices unless logged in
3= Showroom Only

How did you setup the free shipping over a certain amount?

I have it under admin>modules>shipping>Free Shipping Options

Turn on FREE SHIPPING and FREE SHIPPING OPTIONS under admin modules shipping

tks guys, between you two and Dr. B I got most figured out. So at least they can browse now and buy If i only had some sales. But i still need to figure out why it is not posting Ohio sales tax for my home state. but i will. Only hope i get some sales on new mechanical Clocks. I do get alot of repair on them though but nothing would be better than a new sale.
