More info: sure. If I open a category from the category sidebox then a list of products in that category opens in the central column. So for category 1 - eg: http://localhost:8888/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1. (MAMPing on own machine.) At the top of this list there is also a drop down list with the label 'Product Selection' alongside with all the products in that category - plus the 'status off' products. Is that sufficient to track the issue? If not give me more information about what more information you need!
BTW - great work and many thanks.
Sounds like something caused by an addon that's not part of the Zen Cart core code.

Thanks team and sorry - previous addon-fragments must have made it through multiple upgrades over the years.
OK found it - it came from the add-on "Select Product via Drop-Down'. Cheers
