help question Problem with slow loading

    Hi,
I have a problem with my page with the store site and admin site.

I´ve been trying to read every post about this and have changed already things in my site.

I would apreciate if somebody could look at my site tragos ina . com is there are errors to be fixed.
I really don´t understand anything about html or php or any other thing so please explain like for really dummies

The main problem is that the page tryies to load for a long time and after that I get blank page. Sometimes it loads correctly but always after a long waiting.

I have contacted my hosting company several times and they say its a problem in my coding and not with the servers.
It has been slow from the first day, first installation.
I have CSE HTML Validator and I have checked the php and HTML documents and they should be ok, according to CSE program.

So here is some information(sorry about the names in finnish):

Hosting company: GoDaddy (I have now learned that not the best one... but I choose it because it was on the recommended links of Zen Cart) My domain is also with them.

I have the latest version of zen cart

    Palvelimen nimi: trago################## (188.121.45.1)

    Tietokanta isäntä:tra1133202132521.db.8650576.hostedresource.com (188.121.40.116)

Palvelimen käyttöjärjestelmä: Windows NT N1NW8SHG102 6.0 build 6002

    Tietokanta: MySQL 5.0.91-log

    Palvelimen käyntiaika: Unsupported

    HTTP palvelin: Microsoft-IIS/7.0

    PHP versio: 5.2.17 (Zend: 2.2.0)

    PHP Memory Limit: 32M

    PHP Safe Mode: Off

    PHP File Uploads: On

    Suurin koko: 8M

    POST parametrin suurin koko: 8M

    Tietokannan koko: 1,029 kB

    Tietokannan indexin koko: 898 kB

I got this error on my cache debug:
[14-Dec-2011 01:27:57] PHP Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in D:\Hosting\8650576\html\verkkokauppa\paneeli\includes\functions\extra_functions\ security_patch_v138_20090619.php on line 13
    and
[14-Dec-2011 01:24:44] PHP Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in D:\Hosting\8650576\html\verkkokauppa\includes\autoload_func.php on line 60
    and
[14-Dec-2011 01:44:14] PHP Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in D:\Hosting\8650576\html\verkkokauppa\includes\classes\template_func.php on line 29

but I really don´t know what I should do with those? How to fix them?

I have set on true display and store the page parsetime.
It says Parse Time: 22.989 - Number of Queries: 441 - Query Time: 0.92797006539917
other times: Parse Time: 25.875 - Number of Queries: 44 - Query Time: 0.13148151977539

    other information:

When doing the ping I get:

when I do tracert I get 14 different points

    Testing with pingdom I get:
    Perf.grade 83/100, requests 2, loadtime 42,57s (this vary untill 60s), page size 0b. I get also server 5XX errors 1 piece.

    Disk Space Allotment: 150,000 MB

I know it´s a long post with a lot of data but I really have been trying to fix my problem already 2 weeks...I´m desesperate

My web page is not finished but I don´t want to build it any more before I´m sure that it will work correctly.

    So, any ideas??

And if the only problem is the hosting company, what should I tell them or send so that they can´t keep saying everything is ok and it´s the coding of my site.

I have paid already for 3 years so would be gratefull if I don´t have to change to another company.

But if the only option is to change, who would you recommend??

Thanks for all the help!!(and I really need a lot...)

The problem is MOST likely to be the host. GoDaddy will ALWAYS blame the third-party software, but we manage over 200 zencart installations, all of which are located on properly configured Linux servers, at hosts that know and understand eCommerce.

We NEVER EVER have problems. A few sites have been running flawlessly for over SIX YEARS (not a single second of down-time in 6 years).

It also appears you are on a windows server. ZC will work on windows servers BUT... they have to be properly configured.

ZC operates far better on Linux.

Solution... wave goodbye to GoDaddy and get a proper hosting setup. There are only a few reliable eCommerce hosts around, so make your choices carefully.

    Thanks Schoolboy,

I´ve been reading now more about GoDaddy and hosting and surely will move to some other. Sad but true.
So if I understand correctly this time to avoid making another mistake...good hosting companies are those listed here under hosting tab. Right?

Anyway, I´m almost 100% sure that there is also a problem on my coding because I think I have done a mess on there :/ The problem is that I need ZC on finnish and have dowloaded the packet. BUT I have only copy pasted all the texts inside of the finnish php and other documents to the same documents of ZC in english. So I haven´t done the language selection from admin to finnish. The reason was that I tryied to do so three times and each time ZC stopped working after that.
I don´t know if it´s a big problem having on the english php documents that I use now to run ZC lang=fi when it really isn´t.

But anyway, I´m now looking the hosting companies to change it from GD. Also have to read very carefully the migration documents as I´m sure I will do something wrong (again) .

Loading a language module is generally quite straight-forward.

You appear to have done it incorrectly, and this is likely to have affected the operation of your site.

    Are you based in Finland?

It is generally better to host your site with a service provider in your country, or in the country where the website is intended to operate.

I do not know of any hosting companies in Finland that specialise in eCommerce hosting, so you will need to do some research. In general, the large "popular" hosting companies are NOT good for eCommerce, because they do things "on the cheap", and they configure their servers at minimal levels.

You should look for smaller web-hosts that can prove their understanding of eCommerce. Hosting companies that promote their servers as being PCI/DSS compliant are a good indication of a host that understands eCommerce, because PCI/DSS is a demanding standard of server set-up, specific to transaction-based operations.

So... look for hosts with PCI/DSS compliant systems.

If you need help with installing a language module, come back to the forum.

    Hi,
I Have searced for hosting here in Finland and they are really expensives so right now I´m not opting for them. Most of them seems to offer same thing that any other company.
I´m thinking about going to Hostmonster, they say on their page :"Hostmonster supports PCI compliance on all accounts for A and B compliance. "

So is this hosting good or just another bad company?

And about the language file installation I did it several times by different methods, but also with this:

    Using Character Sets
You can set locales for the site from the language file. For each language, there is a file named after that language. For example, for the English language, you will find the includes/languages/english.php file. For viewing a locale, open this file in your favorite text editor, and find the following line:
    @setlocale(LC_TIME, 'en_US.ISO_8859-1');
For the English language, the locale is set to en_US.ISO_8859-1. For other languages, it may be different. For example, for the Bangla language it is bn_BD.
For each language, you can set the character set encoding. The character set encoding needs to be set correctly, otherwise, the language characters shown may be wrong. To change the character set, find the following line:
    define('CHARSET', 'iso-8859-1');
For the English language, the character set ISO-8859-1 may work fine, but for languages that use Unicode or some other encoding, you must set the appropriate character set. For example, to use the Bangla language, the character set must be set to UTF-8.
    Creating a New Language
You can add a new language from the Localization | Languages screen. Click on the new language button on this screen, and a form will appear. Now, enter the following information in the form:
Name: This is the name of the language, probably best expressed in itself, for example, Francais for French, Español for Spanish, Deutsch for German, and so on.
Code: This is ISO 639 two-letter language code; for example, en for English, fr for Francais, es for Español, bn for Bangla, and so on.
Image: This would be a small icon used to identify the language. This would most likely be a .gif image of the national flag for a country commonly associated with that language.
Directory: This is the directory where the translated .php source files for this language are located. For example, if www.example.com is running Zen Cart, and its files are located in the zencart directory, then the directory for English is located at http://www.example.com/zencart/includes/ languages/english. The value for other languages needs to be changed to the appropriate values.
Sort order: This is the order in which the languages should appear in. Lower numbers are shown higher in the front-end.
Set as default: Check this box if this is the default language for your shop.
Once you have provided this information, click on the insert button to add the new language. Alternatively, click on the cancel button if you change your mind.
Although you can create a language without uploading the language files to the appropriate directories, the language will not work until you do so. Therefore, before creating a new language in the Localization | Languages screen, you need to download a language pack from Zen Cart's website and copy those files to the includes/languages/ folder with the language name.
Before creating a new language, make sure that the following files and directories are uploaded to the appropriate places:
    includes/languages/<language_name>.php
    includes/languages/<language_name>/*
    admin/includes/languages/<language_name>.php
    admin/includes/languages/<language_name>/*
    includes/templates/template_default/buttons/<language_name>/
Replace <language_name> with the name of your language. Also remember that although most of the files go in the includes/languages directory, language-specific buttons need to be placed in the includes/templates/template_default/buttons/<language_name> folder.
    Editing a Language
To change information about an existing language, do the following:
    1. Click on the named language so that the right-arrow appears in the
    Action column.
    2. Click on the edit button.
    3. Now edit the settings. The fields on the screen are the same for adding
    a language.
    4. After you have finished editing, click on the update button to save the changes, or click on cancel to discard them.

??? And also another that I found here in ZC tutorials.
Also the finnish language package includes these instructions:

    INSTALL:

Move the includes/ and admin/ directory (and sub dirs) to
your ZenCart root and add the language in the admin pages
(refer to ZenCart documentation on how to do this).

Move the buttons/ directory to your templates button directory.

Optional: Move the email/ directory to the root directory.
(you should make your own templates anyway!)

    That's it... Enjoy!

    NOTE:

Remember to edit the define_pages and customize the E-mails if neccessary.

Hostmonster is OK. There is also terranetwork.net - a UK-based company with an excellent knowledge of eCommerce.

The Finnish language module is available at:

    http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=366

You should probably use the 1.3.9 version, not the 1.5 version. So make sure to follow the download link for 1.3.9 .

You should also look to changing your COLLATION to UTF8.

Numinix has a good tutorial on this:

    Change your COLLATION first.

Then, load the language module. This should quite simply be a case of sending the pack via FTP to your server. You should NOT need to manually adjust any files. Just use FTP to send the whole pack to the server. Make sure you send it to the correct directory LEVEL(S), so that the pack's folders are located in the right folders on the server.

    Follow the pack's installation instructions.

As I said... unless there are specific instructions to edit files manually, all you need do is send (via FTP) the language pack to the server.

NB: There MIGHT be a need to edit some of the pack's files to get the collation to UTF8. Check with the pack authors first !

    Thank you!!
I will go for Hostmonster and try with them.
I supose it will be better that I do the installation again from zero and try to make work the finnish language packet.
So many hours spent for nothing Well, my fault. Atleast now I know where everthing is located
I did use the FTP (filezilla)to load the files. But I´ll try it again once I have everything set up.

But thank you very much for your time and help!

Yes... a fresh install is a good idea. And you can get the collation sorted BEFORE you install. (see numinix's tutorial).
