    help question Editing with Aptana

I'm probably just being dull but does anyone know how to edit an existing Zen cart site using Aptana Studio 3?

I was using dreamweaver to edit my zen cart site but I have recently changed my pc for a mac and don't really want to shell out for dreamweaver so I decided to try Aptana but I can't work out how to even connect to my site using Aptana.

Any help with this or suggestions on a different editor would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks

Those types of editors aren't the best way to work with Zen Cart. You are much better off using a good text editor like Notepad++ to edit files locally and FTPing the updated files to your site .

Aptana IDE is a complex tool.
the best way is to run aptana with your local project and not with working online store.
you can duplicate your store on your computer . then use aptana import feature to import the site as a Project . it should list it under project . then you can use it to modify zencart . current version of aptana doesn't have PHP debug .. ( as far as i know ) .. so for not good free text editor with highlighting feature should do the trick.

NO, TextEdit is NOT a wise tool for editing PHP files. Perhaps for HTML, but not for PHP.

Aptana Studio is a great tool for editing programming code, including PHP. Good choice!
It can also be set up to interact with your website, but I echo tony_sar's comments: I STRONGLY suggest that you ALWAYS do your edits locally and only upload when done testing. There are several good FTP applications for the Mac -- use one that will Synchronize your changed files, and that'll make life super easy!
