weight toggle problem?

I am using zencart 1.3.9 and my own template.
I am selling products that are liquid and also solid. Some of the products are less than a kg/liter so they require weight display in gm/ml. I need to give weight measurement in liter for liquid/ml and in kg/gm for solid. For me the ideal solution would be a way to find out how to create a dropdown box with different weight units reflecting as option at the product listing page.
I don't know how to create a dropdown box in zencart and definitely don't know how to create weight options into it.
The usual includes/languages/english.php(lbs--kg) solution is not coming to help.

Is there a way to work it out?

The weight parameter in zencart - indeed in any online shop - is there principally to assist with shipping calculations. The KG and / or LBS names are simply a LABEL... the math is what counts.

It is probably easiest to just insert the ml/l/kg/g value as part of a product's description, rather than to try re-building the weight parameter - which would be a lot of work.
