Default Question on Admin Search function

    Hello,

I created a zen cart store for one of my clients a while ago. Initially he had me add about 800 products at once, I did this through SQL, just edited the databases and added. It worked great

Well a year has passed and he has added some products of his own since then.

The issue is that when you log in as admin and search for a specific item number that item doesn't show up unless he added it manually.

For example if he searches windchimes only 1 windchime shows up. Well that windchime is the one he added, the other 40 I uploaded through sql are not there.

So the issue has something to do with the ones I added. Any idea how to resolve this, any help would be appreciated. He has over 2000 items and the search feature would help drastically.

Check the products table in the database to see if the ones you added have product_id numbers.

Not sure if it comes in to play, but how about the products_description table?

So, when you manually hacked the data into the database, which tables did you populate, and which fields in those tables?
And how does that compare to the actual original Zen Cart code in the admin files which are used to enter products properly?
Therein lies your key. And also in the search criteria used in the admin search scripts, which will of course point to the same tables as the inserts do.
