Default Open a backup copy on LocalHost

    I've been bad.
I failed to keep my local copy updated so that it matches my live site.

So I'm wondering if I can just delete my jumbled mess (on my PC) and download a copy of my site via Backup and open it locally.

Any basic How-to info would be greatly appreciated.

You can use this tutorial for a guide. Just substitute your local machine info for the "new host" info.
I want to move my Zen Cart installation to another host or a different server

Also see the wiki for a tutorial on making a local copy of your site.

One other little "tidbit" for your localhost-clone are the directories \includes\local and \YOURADMIN\includes\local. Once you've FTP'd your hosted structure to your local PC, copy \includes\configure.php to \includes\local\configure.php and copy \YOURADMIN\includes\configure.php to \YOURADMIN\includes\local\configure.php.

Export your hosted database, create your local database and import your hosted database into the local version. Modify the two local\configure.php files to reference your localhost installation, physical filepaths and local database name.

You should be good to go; just remember to never FTP the contents of the "local" directories to your hosted setup!

    Weirdness over here...

Tried 7zip....no love. Got a message during the extraction process stating the file was bad. Hmmmm...

Tried again with winzip...same sort of message.

Erased the backup file that i downloaded earlier today and am Backing up again via CPanel (Accelrated 2, if that means anything to youz guyz).

I'll download it when it's complaete and try extracting from the new backup.

    Stay tuned...film at 11.

    Well I'm doing something wrong.
I've backed up and download the file 3 times and every time I attempt to extract the files i get an error message stating that there are 2-3 erors and the files can't be extracted.

Looks like I'm going to have to FTP the file folders 1 at a time.

    Change 3 to rev Me.1

yeah i know...make up yer stinkin' mind already....

So I got the "There's an update available" email this morning and thought about doing the upgrade but rebuilding from scratch seems silly (read: STUPID) at this point, so....

Anyone have any clues as to why I keep getting errors when I attempt to extract files from my downloaded backup file.

If it matters I've been downloading via cpanel since FileZilla doesn't seem to like me as of late.
