There really is no secret to it's use, just fall in line with the requirements expressed in the instructions.
Downloaded, make changes, uploaded - the "listing" indicated the "updates"

also tried "adding" some similar products to the csv file - same result

and yes, I see that using cut & Paste for my inquiry had an undesirable result.
