classic template help jazzing it up

well just installed 1.5 on test site, using classic template have widened it slightly and changed colour and added a slided

i have a white gap directly below the slider and cant find how to remove it,

Before you go any further, you need to create this as a custom template using the overrrides system, and stop editing the classic. That will save you some serious headaches down the road. See this tutorial:

thanks, now moved to customclassic folder, any help on making the white space disapear appreciated

changed the container size in stylesheet to smaller than the slider image and this seems to have done it buy may not be the correct solution

The bit of whitespace that follows your slider is caused by the <br class="clearBoth" /> that follows that <div id="container"></div>. You could add the following to your stylesheet:

div#container+br.clearBoth { display: none; }

to cause that offending <br /> statement to "not display" so the whitespace disappears!
