Default No content on the web ?

    Hi Guru's,
Tried searching for this but as usual can't find it so I'll ask.
I do not want anything with in the cart to be found on the internet. If I disable the meta tags through out the cart will this prevent the information within the cart from showing up on the web? I have clients that have products in their cart and they are found on the internet. What prevent the bots from posting that info on the web?
    As always Thank you.

Fellow Michigander - a little more information, please, about exactly what you don't want the bots to find, and, more importantly, why ?

    Hi Stevesh,
Can you believe this weather? Heck, I've seen it colder than this in May.... LOL. Glad to see the Michigan Big 10 teams win their bowl games. Boy the rest of them sure fell on their face. Sorry about Clemson getting whacked.
I really don't want any content found from inside this cart. This is that members site I've been working on. Most of the content is for members eyes only. Where the members will have some of their information in the cart. We will also be using the catalog as a member to member classifieds. I don't want anything in the catalog/products area to be displayed as a link from a browser search. Just thought you could make the cart content private. It is not critical, if some one clicked the link it would take them to the login page anyway. Just thought it would be better this way.
Have a great weekend. GO LIONS....

First, when you use the word "cart", most readers will think you're talking about a shopper's shopping basket, as in something they're proceeding to purchase via checkout.
So, in your context, it would be more appropriate to say "information on the site" instead of "information in the cart".

If you want to prevent obedient search engines from indexing your site, edit the html_header.php of your custom template and remove the conditional "if" around the robots-noindex,nofollow tag.

You could even go into your (self added) robots.txt file and tell it to disallow all.

And further, if this is a members-only site, which requires login, then search engines can't see any of the content anyway. So, they won't be indexing anything ... nor updating their indexes.

    Hi Doc,
Ok, Sorry about confusing everyone. I will try to be more accurate in my descriptions so others will understand what I'm doing. I will change the "if" statement in the header anyway but the login blocking the bot search is just what I wanted to happen. Most of the content on the easy pages could be viewed by a non-members, it's not that confidential. But Member information would be on some pages and as I stated we will use the product area for member to member classifieds. I did not want these to show. As always Doc you are Outstanding and I always appreciate your knowledge and input on the workings of the cart.
    Thank you again,
    Mark
