Default Maximum weight for flat rate

    Zen Cart v1.3.8a/v1.3.8
I want to offer the medium flat rate as an option but when the customer adds more heavy items into the cart that go over the weight limit for that box it still shows up as an option. How do I fix this?
Also, is there a way to have a minimum shipping amount no matter how light the products are?
    Thnx! Michelle http://www.fundametals.net/

    Set maximum weight in admin/configuration/shipping/packaging.

I only want the maximum weight to be aloud for the flat rate box only. Not the max weight I will ship. In other words if they order a 40lb product I don't want flat rate box to come up as an option.
    Thnx!

honestly, you shouldnt offer them a choice of box to use, just stick to normal weight and prices

I disagree. The weight is calculating postage to high. People who shop on line are aware of the flat rate box option. I don;t like being ripped off on shipping and neither do my customers. There has to be a way to fix it.

did you ever figure out how to do this?

I am in the same situation. I want to charge certain rates for certain LB brackets of the total order.

for instance 1 to 10 lbs - one flat rate
11 to 30 lbs another flat rate
    etc...

any ideas on how to do this?

No I never figured this out yet. No suggestions anyone? I do not understand why the feature come up if the pricing is tied to the USPS website.

If you're talking about USPS flat rate,

    USPS Shipping Module Update - RateV4 - IntlRateV2

Allows filtering by weight or volume. One issue is that it has not yet been updated for the 1/22/2012 USPS changes. but the only issue I had was International First Class quotes and does not have the new boxes added.

For volume filtering and removing flatrate box choices when the total volume of order exceeds the cubic inches available for the various flat rate boxes... it has been working well for us. It also has the Regional A and B flat rate boxes.

I'm not sure how the weight filtering option works but the readme file is pretty informative.
