Just wondering if it's possible to create a confirmation email for the 'Contact Us' form via Autoresponder, or any other modules? I've had a look around and all options I've come across don't come free.

If I understand the question, I can't see any reason you couldn't put one name and address (or more than one, I guess) in Admin - Configuration - Email Options - Contact Us - Set "Contact Us" Email Dropdown List and use that address only for your Contact Us form and set up an autoresponder in your hosting control panel (unless you want the responses to be unique to each message - that's beyond my pay grade).
Hi there, thanks for your response. To elaborate a little, when someone fills the contact us form on my site, I'd like for them to receive an automated response saying
hi <first name>;
thanks for the email bla bla
If I was to do what you suggested, wouldn't that same person receive that first response every time they write to that email?

Yes, but I thought that was what you wanted. If you want each customer who contacts you through the Contact Us form to receive the message only the first time they contact you, that, and the insertion of the customers name, are beyond my coding abilities.
Yes, i was just after the email being sent the first time a customer sends an email. That's ok, I appreciate your help. Hopefully someone who has a solution sees this and can provide some assistance soon

Sending automated replies from contact-us forms is poor practice, because it encourages the misuse of your site to be used by spammers, since all they have to do to send junk to other people is put someone else's email address in the form and bam your store is sending junk to them, and then your store gets flagged for spamming and you get blacklisted and have all manner of trouble.
Is there some very specific problematic business need that's driving your inquiry, which could be solved more effectively another way?

Following your recommendation, I've decided not to send an automated response from contact-us forms.
There was no specific business need that was driving my inquiry. I was just working on all aspects of creating an enhanced customer experience whilst shopping on my store in comparison to most others.
