URGENT HELP NEEDED!! Problems with special prices not reflecting/updating

I'm having a specials problem - though have read all the previous posts and still cant come right.

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but have read so many threads about this and not getting anywhere with regards to fixing the problem. Oh and I'm using 1.3.9h.

I installed a special (actually this was done prior to me recently commencing work at my company), and am trying to change it - but the special price - for some reason - keeps reverting back to the old special. There aren't any dates set up, so that shouldn't affect it.

Specials Status is active, and priced by attributes is set on no. I have tried all the suggestions above and more, but not getting anywhere. And I've realised this problem is across the board with multiple products.

Also, I've tried to change the specials on a product with no attributes, nor which is linked to other categories, but it still didn't work.

Please help. I've attached a screenshot of my example fyi..
