Username Variable

I'm trying to create a query where it will search all orders, and then store it in a count with regards to the username/id.

I understand PHP to an extent, but i'm trying to work out within zencart what variable the username is stored into, so i can do WHERE='$username'

$_SESSION['customer_id'] will hold the id of the logged-in customer.
