Is there an option to change the default look of the subcategory menu?

The current look is this:
Steel Tip Darts->
|_ FIVE STAR DARTS
|_ HORIZON DARTS


I would like to eliminate the |_ before the subcategory name..

Also, can I make the subcategory name Italic?
