Snaf

I re-worked the Single Listing Template mod for Zen 1.5

Part of this was just because I struggled to make the further adaptations I needed on that existing code. I just wanted it to work the way that I needed and it is no criticism of SLT in the slightest.

Mine is called SNAF because I tried to arrange the letters 'S' 'N' 'A' and 'F' (specials, featured, all, new) and this arrangement made me laugh.

What it does:
-- adds column grid functionality
-- installs nicely in 1.5.0
-- let's the user choose to use product_listing format rather than default format for specials, new, featured, and all listing from settings in admin
-- adds a dropdown filter to product_listing in column view so the listing can be sorted according to criteria such as price. Display of this is set in admin for each listing individually
-- let's the user choose to include salemaker items in specials or not
-- adds the ability to use get parameters on the specials page to filter by category so that it is easy to create specials pages for a specific category

What it doesn't do :
-- play well with previous versions without modifying the sql statements. basically it auto-installs the sql stuff to suit the structure needed in 1.5. Re-working it for previous versions would be possible but let's move forward.
-- do anything at all with the center boxes like SLT does. It just works with the main listing pages

Just uploaded this to the free software add-ons section. As soon as I know it I will post a link to the add on.

This module is for Zen 1.5 . Included in the zip file is a version for 1.3.9 ( and probably earlier ) but this is not thoroughly tested and is unsupported. Although, I will do my best to answer any questions that users have and eventually it might become 'official'.

Re: Snaf

Just so I am on the track ... does your SNAF (*snickers*) replace (at least temporarily) that Column Layout / Grid Layout for Product Listing addon since that one hasn't been updated for 1.5.0 yet?

Re: Snaf

Yeah, pretty much.

It is actually more of a direct replacement for Single Listing ( which included Column Grid ) Yup, slightly confusing.

I wanted something that would put the items in columns and use the same layout for specials, new, featured and all as it did for product listing. It was quicker for me to rewrite than convert any of the previous mods.

Re: Snaf

Nick,

Great! I'll install yours then instead of waiting for the update on the other addon.

Re: Snaf

Now available in the free-sotware section:

http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=product_contrib_info&products_id=2061

As mentioned in the previous thread, I made an error in the naming of the YOUR_ADMIN folder ( I included a '*' in the name ) which caused some users to have problems with the zip file. There is a new version that is awaiting acceptance on the free software section that solves this foolish error!

Also, it has been noted that when adding salemaker to specials all salemaker items are added even if they are outside the date range of that salemaker . The next version which I will do shortly will solve this oversight.

Re: Snaf

Hi dw,

The 1.3.9 version is included in the download on free software although not advertised as such. With a warning that is pretty untested at the moment. But backup and give it a go and let me know if there are any errors. If people use it and test it then maybe the 1.3.9 version can become mainstream. i am jsut far too rushed at the moment to test it myself.

Also, as you may have noticed zipping appears not to be my strength. How could something so simple be a challenge??? Anyway, the version on free software has spaces in the directory names so let me know if you have problems with that.

Note that that mod is still completely functional with v1.5.0. The file change in product_listing.php is cosmetic only, and the configuration SQL does not add a new page that needs to be registered.

Re: Snaf

No there is no demo page. If you drop me a private message I can let you look at a site or two where it is installed.

It really doesn't need a demo page. It's prime function is to make product listing display in a grid and to allow the other listings (specials,new, featured, all) use the product listing format.

What Glen says is true. The column grid module works fine with 1.5. This jsut uses that base code and adds a few other functions on top of it. And there is a big nod of appreciation towards column grid because without that things would have been much more work.

Which is why I commented that it is a more direct replacement for Single Listing Template. A mod that was also based on column grid.

Re: Snaf

Hi,

I just installed SNAF following the readme instructions. Now, as I try to use it I find that the Configuration > Product Listing > Product Listing - Layout Style is set to "rows". When I try to edit it, I get a textbox and not a drop menu.

Also, the green message that reads: "SNAF database changes have been installed" won't disappear, even loging out and login in again, and not even after changing it to chmod 777.

Any clues as to what can be happening?

I'm using v 1.5.0 upgraded from 1.3.9h

Thanks in advance,

Nugar

Re: Snaf

Hmmm, interestingly, I renamed config.snaf.php to config.snaf.php.old, reentered the admin and now I do get radio buttons to choose from columns or rows.

So... problem solved :)

Re: Snaf

Well, I would check your cache files for errors. It sounds as if the installer was not completing for some reason. The last thing that the installer does is delete the config.snaf.php file. So, obviously that was not happening which meant that each time an admin page was being loaded the installer was running.

So, by deleting the config.snaf.php file you have stopped that happening. Which is good.

I'd like to know what you see in the debug files though so we could fault find what was happening in your case and possibly improve the installer.

Another thing to do is uninstall and re-install. It is possible there was a problem with the files that got uploaded. If you do do that then it would be a good idea to re-download the mod in case the files got corrupted at that point.

Re: Snaf

Just install the whole thing.

There are admin switches which will allow you to use the features on the individual pages.

More information is in the read me file :smile:

Re: Snaf

Hi

Apologies, this is a bit long winded, and not a fault with your add-on but I was hoping you might be able to point me in the right direction.

I have installed the SNAF add on on a development site using Zen Cart 1.5.0 and all went well, thanks a lot.

I have a live site using 1.3.8a and the previous column grid add-on.

I had previously had a third party write a small amendment for me which allowed me to set up some products so that the price was not displayed on the listing pages, instead there is a link which says "Click for Price" which then takes the user to the product page, where the price can be displayed as normal. The live site is
http://www.thegolfcabin.co.uk/golf-balls and look at any of the Taylormade brand products.

I have set up an additional product field called product_is_nolist and the code that was amended in product_listing.php was in the if statement in the code below

case 'PRODUCT_LIST_PRICE':
	if($listing->fields['product_is_nolist']=='1'){
        $lc_price = '<a href="' . zen_href_link(zen_get_info_page($listing->fields['products_id']), 'cPath=' . (($_GET['manufacturers_id'] > 0 and $_GET['filter_id']) > 0 ?  zen_get_generated_category_path_rev($_GET['filter_id']) : ($_GET['cPath'] > 0 ? zen_get_generated_category_path_rev($_GET['cPath']) : zen_get_generated_category_path_rev($listing->fields['master_categories_id']))) . '&products_id=' . $listing->fields['products_id']) . '">click for price</a>' . '<br />';
	}
	else{
        $lc_price = zen_get_products_display_price($listing->fields['products_id']) . '<br />';
	}
        $lc_align = 'right';
        $lc_text =  $lc_price;

When I try to add the above to the new product-listing.php from the new add-on, it seems to break things, i.e. no products are displayed and the right hand column and footer dont appear.

I hope this is clear and that you dont mind me asking. Possibly something about the above is not compatible with 1.5.0. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Snaf

Just looked at log files re above and is says unexpected T-CASE, possibly some sort of syntax error, will try to check the code for problems.

Re: Snaf

Well, the log file should give you a line number. But just try commenting out it bit by bit to narrow down where the error is.

It looks like a grammar error rather than anything intrinsically wrong.

Re: Snaf

I am using V1.5.0 and have a template that I am working on - I have installed SNAF and for the life of me, I cannot get the columns to display the info in them correctly. I have tried adjusting the stylesheet and it is still not doing what I need it to.

Please let me know which file I should be editing?

From what I can work out my home page is using tpl_columnar and my other pages (product listing, new, sales etc) seem to be using tpl_tabular. Maybe that is the mistake?

Any urgent help would be appreciated.

:oops:
