customer can't download fileafter purchase

The error message:

You don't have permission to access /pub/.xkmdrzrmwernlxyisp/[FILENAME] on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

appears when a customer goes to download a purchased file. I use PayPal Express checkout. Is this a problem with permissions?

What's the filename? More specifically, what's the extension? And is that extension included in the whitelist inside your /pub/.htaccess file?

Thank you so much for the reply, but I found the problem and want to share it with you. Actually, I found it with a further search through the forums.

I had to change Download by Redirect to false.

From what I understand this is a less secure method, but my host must not support redirect. On a scale of 1-10, how bad is this as a solution?

It's not *bad*. It's just that your customers can share the download links with their friends, who can download without paying. But if your customers are not the sort to do that, then maybe it's not a problem for your situation.
