Developing my own shipping module

Hello,

I've started learning PHP and want to test my skills by tweaking a shipping module.

I have installed the dual pricing 1.8 module that allows me to group customers and allow some to see wholesale prices.

Now, when I have changed a customer to group '1' which files would I need to change to get the flat rate shipping to change to a fixed £8.99 at the checkout?

Would it just be includes/modules/shipping/flat.php or would there be other files that would need to be changed?
