Email Error: SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.

Hi,

I'm having trouble sending out html emails. I'm getting this error: Email Error: SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.

I've read the posts regarding how to set this up and still cant get it to work.

I'm using yahoo hosting and business email address.

Here are the configurations in my admin:

Transport Method: smtpauth
MIME HTML: true
Send Emails: true
Emails send from known domain: Yes
SMTP Email Account Mailbox: my yahoo business email address
SMTP Email Account Password: my yahoo password
SMTP Email Mail Host: smtp.bizmail.yahoo.com
SMTP Email Mail Server Port: 465

Please help.

Hi Dr Byte. Thank you for the link. I read and followed the info in that link already before posting here and cant seem to make this work. I've called yahoo support and they're saying they're not even getting any logs from my site trying to contact them when I'm trying to send emails. Any idea why it's not working?

If they're not seeing any connection attempts, that further confirms that the "could not connect to SMTP host" actually means exactly what it says: it can't connect to the host (server) that's providing the SMTP (email) services.

That's usually a result of the host name being entered wrong, or the port number being wrong, or the server's own firewalls being configured to block that traffic (which is something the hosting company must resolve).

Try port 587

That's what the wiki article suggested, too. But, they did that already ... or so they claim.
