sub-categories missing :(

i got no idea why the sub-categories is missing? and i dont know when it actually gone till my colleague told me this. it makes inconvenience when finding the product without the sub-category thing. do anyone here meet the same problem as i do and solved it before? :) tq

Check your setting in Admin - Configuration - Product Listing - Show SubCategories on Main Page while navigating

If that's not it, we'll need to see the site.

When I create a category under admin>Catalog>Categories/Products and move another category to create a sub-category I get this error:
"Error Error: Category has Products! While this can be done temporarily to build your Categories ... Categories hold either Products or Categories but never both!"

The trouble is that I don't know how else to create sub categories that links beneath a main category listing. And the other oddity is that it works.

Could someone possibly let me know if there is a better way to do this?

Ok, I think I am starting to understand this sub-category thing a little better. Please correct me if I am wrong. The main category can have multiple sub-categories beneath it but no overall product listings.

At the present I have a whole list of products under the main category. I also have the same products linked in the sub-categories beneath the main category description.


For example, say I want all shirt designs to be featured under the main category of "Tops" but then I want them also to be viewed by sizes:
Tops
- Size Small
-Size Medium
-Size Large

Presently Zen Cart is allowing me to do this ... but those errors concerning only have categories or products may make this unstable?

Adding to the above - I am only 'linking' the products from the main category into the sub-categories instead of customers having to run a search.

No it is not ... you should only have Products or Categories in a Category ... but never both ...
