Default .htaccess - I want to use my dedicated ip instead

hi I have searched the forums but have not been able to find a straight answer.
my domain is currently set to blahblah.com
I want to use my dedicated ip instead of that as my domain.

what .htaccess and config files(specific folders) would i need to edit and what would the code be for the .htaccess files
    thank you

Actually there is a very good reason and that is because I currently have a live site that is being masked by the domain for
My new site so they conflict which is why I am using a dedicated ip until the new site Is done... So can I get some help?

As far as Zen Cart is concerned, you DO NOT NEED TO USE .HTACCESS to change the URLs generated for your store. Simply set the HTTP_SERVER setting in your configure.php files.

And you should VERY RARELY ever edit the .htaccess files that come with Zen Cart. And ESPECIALLY NEVER edit them for redirect or rewrite purposes ... because they would be the wrong ones to edit in that case.

If you insist on using .htaccess to do what appears to be an unnecessary thing based on how you've described the situation so far, you'll need to add your own custom .htaccess in the root of your site. Zen Cart DOES NOT come with a .htaccess in the root ... because it doesn't need one. If you have specialized needs that require .htaccess to handle them, then you must add your own file and populate it with the correct things to suit your unique needs.

thank you for the response I ended up figuring it out and I had modified the configure files but the problems was that I did not change the file permissions when uploading so the write was never made....

for anyone that may find this thread in search of a similar question:

I edit the 2 configure files located in

    includes/configure.php
    admin/includes/configure.php

and changed the HTTP_SERVER and HTTPS_SERVER to my new domain

    thank you for your responses
