Its the not knowing where things go, etc.

You don't generally need to know where things go unless you are installing customized mods; even then, most well-written mods are structured so you can drop their /includes/ folder into /public_html/ and be done. Same with installing Zen Cart - just unzip it and upload the whole fileset (minus the readmes) into /public_html/, then navigate to your URL and you will see the install page. You do need to have the index.html removed/renamed to do this (like index.html.bak)

It took about 3 hours. So its sort of installed, but nothing works. I can't get to the admin area (off to read on this) - takes me to a doteasy page doesn't exist.
and I did the downloadable products path wrong (should have gone with what I had thought)
so off to read for several more hours

The only thing I can find about not being able to access admin area is to check the configure files, but I have no way of opening them or checking them. I have copied them to my hard drive etc.

It turns out the last 2 hours have been in vain. Doteasy had something messed up on my account. I am now finally in the admin area. However, I am not sure if this is me installing zencart, or if doteasy still has something messed up since I upgraded. If I type in my website name in general, it comes up with default website page for doteasy. ???
