Default How to sort products alphabetically?

How can I configure Zen Cart to sort products alphabetically? I searched the forums but didn't see any postings and the e-start ... Zen Cart book is kind of cryptic on the subject.

If you don't set a sort order when you create the products, they should sort alphabetically. If yours aren't, please post a link to your site.

Hi Steve - the site is prestonribbons.com. The products in the Ribbon Catalog are currently sorted by their model number and we want to sort them by first letter in the product name.

Thanks for pointing me to the right control. The value was zero. I changed it to 1 but that did not change the sort order of the product list. Looking at the non-standard size attribute columns I think there may be a customized display template for product lists that would need some programming to change the sort order. What do you think?

My stock Zencart test site has that setting set to 1 and the product listing sorts alphabetically by product name, so it's possible your template designer has changed something.

I would look at the files included with the template and see if any files dealing with the product listing other than files beginning with tpl_ have been edited.
