    help question How do I make these .htaccess edits?

    Hello, I'm hoping somebody here can help me out. I'm not all that familiar working with .htaccess files. So, when I was reading the documentation for installing a ZC add-on, EasyPopulate, and it said:

    Note: If you are using Zencart 1.5 and want to move your Uploads directory into this folder, you will need to customize an .htaccess file to add allowed file types of .CSV and .TXT.
    How do I do this?

    Thanks for your help.

    missnura's issue is completely different, and is discussed at length in her other posts on the same topic.

    Right. My issue is that I need to allow files such as .txt and .csv for the script to function in this one specific directory. The problem is, I don't know how. I know that in trying to secure my site, one of the instructions were to disable .txt and other files, and that code is in the root. But I'm at a loss here.

    I found this code online, on an unrelated website:

    Code:
    <Files *.txt, *.csv>
    Order Allow,Deny
    allow from all
    </Files>
    Does this look correct?

    Which SPECIFIC folder are you talking about? What is its EXACT path on your server? And are you actually having problems using it now, or are you just getting hung up on an instruction point that may or may not even be relevant?

    I installed EasyPopulate, and the folder in question is:

    public_html/secret-zencart-directory/my-secret-zencart-temp-directory/

    You probably don't need to make any changes then.

    Well, i dunno. Here's a copy of the .htaccess file in my root:

    Code:
    RewriteEngine off
    <IfModule mod_suphp.c>
    	suPHP_ConfigPath /home/myspecialplace/public_html/php.ini
    	<Files php.ini>
    		order allow,deny
    		deny from all
    	</Files>
    </IfModule>
    <Files *.txt>
    	Order Deny,Allow
    	Deny from all
    </Files>

    Not sure why you've added this:
    Code:
    <Files *.txt>
    	Order Deny,Allow
    	Deny from all
    </Files>
    If it's just because that addon's readme told you to, then I recommend you remove it.

    As far as I can tell, those instructions are probably only relevant if you're wanting to download (export) EZP data by clicking a link on your browser. There are other much more secure ways to do it, such as using SFTP. Nothing else would legitimately require any alteration to the .htaccess.
    And, the .htaccess the instructions are referring to is probably one in your /admin/ folder, or better yet, your /admin/temp/ folder, not in the root.

    You really should be asking these questions in the thread devoted to that addon, because your questions are only relevant to the use of the addon.
