It is already set to TRUE, but the value is for PNG files not for gif, so I am going to change the transparent gif into a png. I will report later to let you know the result

I replaced the product image with a png file and now the transparency is preserved.

Well, as I discovered working on Image Scaler gif transparency is a bit of a nightmare. Having said that TimThumb seems to say that it has no problems with it. I'll look into it. I guess I am going to have to look inside the code after all
