Converting store into marketplace

Hello,

I would like to know if it is possible to convert Zen Cart into marketplace. By marketplace I mean e-comerce where users can upoad and sell their own virtual content. Examples of such websites are www.istockphoto.com or www.turbosquid.com.

Where can I find more information about this. Perhaps there is a template already prepared that I am not aware of.

Zen Cart is not designed to be a marketplace solution, and there is no way to convert it to do so without a massive code overhaul.

You'd have to hire someone to make it work for you. Or look for something multi-vendor that suits you.

Either way you're most likely going to be forking out a fair bit of money to build a marketplace. The cheapest "good" multi-vendor solution I know of costs $985.

There actually is an open source solution that allegedly works with another open source cart, but it looks very complicated and very hit and miss.
