Default phpMyAdmin for database migration - Wiki or how to?

    Hi,

Can anyone post a link or direct me to a how to or wiki on using phpMyAdmin to migrate an existing ZC store database to a new, fresh and separate install of a 1.5 store?

In the past I have used Navicat for ZC database mgt and it works great, but I know most folks use phpMyAdmin for ZC so thought I'd try something new.

The store I am migrating from is a v1.3.8a/v1.3.8.

    Thanks for any info.

So, this appears to be your third separate thread about upgrading. Aren't all these issues related to the same thing?

As for phpMyAdmin (or Navicat, or any other MySQL tool), YOU CANNOT JUST COPY PIECES OF YOUR 1.3.8 DATABASE DIRECTLY INTO YOUR 1.5 DATABASE. You must use zc_install and do a proper database upgrade.

I used to do that all the time on 1.3.8 and older. Never had any problems just copying in new or altered database tables over the old ones. This is the first time I heard not to do it this way, but it has been a while since I have done it...

Are there major changes in the new 1.5 version that could cause problems in doing this?

Problem is, my old server does not have phpMyAdmin to do a database backup. I can only do that with navicat. New server has phpMyAdmin.

Yes. The database structure is different from earlier versions.

You should be able to dump with Navicat and import with phpMyAdmin.

    Thanks,

Which data format would be best to dump to (with Navicat), in order to import with phpMyAdmin?
