    Default Assigning Passwords?

Is there a way that the admin can assign and/or change a registration password?

I'd like to be able to register people myself, and send them a password... I seem to be able to edit all other data about a customer, but I can't find the passwords anywhere...

To clarify, I'd like to be able to restrict visitors to 'only' logging in for the time being... IOW, there is no path for them to register...

the only two ways I can think of having this ability, would be to be able to assign passwords in the admin area some how... or to have a 'separate' registration page, that only I can access...

ie, a login page accessible to the public, and a registration page, accessible only to me...

    Possible?

Perhaps this mod would work for what you want to do:

How do you close the register link?
Isn't the registration section on the same page as the login page?

    Or can they be separated?

There's no built-in facility for creating customers from the admin side.
There are various addons that people have written to work around some of those limitations, in the Addons section.
