    Default Custom SQL Scripti

    Hello,

I am hoping someone will know how to do this. I realize it can be done but I'm not great with SQL.

My clients has over 800 items she has added to her database and after reviewing it with her I realized she didn't add in the keywords into her product name so that is hurting her in SEO.

Here is what I am looking to do, I figure this has to be a script for it

New Product Name = Product Name + Appropriate Category Name (based on the category the specific product is in)

    any help would be great

    thanks

What "keywords" are you referring to?

If you need to MASS-CHANGE product NAMES, then use Easy Populate... very quick and easy.

The product name field has a 64 character limit in the dbase, so if you want to use a SQL patch, then you need to make sure that the concatenated strings do not exceed 64 characters

I also think your strategy will do more harm than good... you will effectively create numerous products with a lot of identical descriptors. Google may take one look at it and ignore all but one product in any given category.

So... if she has (eg) 20 categories and 40 products in each one, then 1 product in a category will be indexed by google and the remaining 39 will be ignored.

thanks what I am trying do is add "shirts" and "bags" for example to the title of the product

right now she has names for them but they don't list what they are so the listing page only has the word shirt one time...at the top

if I am easily add the category name to the end of the title than the shirts would look like

    Angel Shirt
    Baseball Shirt
    I love you Shirt

    etc

    thanks
