download file green on one but not on identical other

Both of my products are identical except for date and price and when I edited the first product I added download attribute of permission form type docx. when i select that product it clearly shows the green dot to say there is a download even though it shows no option name only option value which is TEXT.

So when I go to other product to select and then edit and try and add the dload at the bottom it never sticks and there is no green dot...says the name and value don't match?

Plus a customer said they paid for first product (with green dot) and never got the download but then they never got the dload file on main page either (as option) and I know that file is fine.

actually i need to better explain - i can't remember ever having selected an attribute for my product in that box , i think i just simply added the file in the download box down the bottom along with max download and amount of days. now it won't let me do it again. in fact i know i must have done that because the file is docx and there is no value for docx in the list, only pdf.

so why has the green dot come on under the product? and why can't i replicate it in the second? i just want parents when they buy the workshop which is virtual to get the parent permission eform which is a docx file for dload to open in word. AND i want to test it somehow...but i don't see how i can do that now store is open because says when you put it under maintenance you can't do transactions ((
