Default I was hoping to fix this problem with the SQL patch uploader.

There has gotta be a better way?!
I've lost everything and I am sooo frustrated. Zen cart isn't worth the stress. I was hoping to fix the problem using the sql patch uploader in Admin. Keep getting this WARNING: An Error occurred, please refresh the page and try again. I have tried the methods that are supposed to fix it but it is greek to me! I'm a book store owner not a computer genius.

    disappointed once again.

Well it wouldn't have been nearly as disappointing if you had followed the cardinal rule of ugrading.. BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP.. The upgrade instructions STRESS doing this in a DEVELOPMENT/TEST environment to make sure everything works BEFORE overwriting your LIVE store. Not for nothing, but if you did not heed this advice your disappointment is not the fault of Zen Cart or it's amazing developers or contributors. Finding another e-commerce solution is NOT going to mitigate the fact that the lesson you need to walk away with is that going forward you MUST BACKUP before UPGRADING regardless of the e-commerce platform that you settle on.

To answer your question: The way to rollback is to restore your store from a backup assuming you did make a backup before upgrading. Another option to consider is seeking professional help to see if your backup disaster is recoverable..

I hope it all works out for you..

First of all, I did back up both my files and my database. Problem is actually with the installation itself. There are multiple areas that are no longer working since the upgrade in spite of me re-loading my files and database, neither of which have anything to do with the errors in the SQL patch uploader having errors. And yes I have multiples copies in a test zone as well.

The problem is that this is costing me time and money which should be devoted to running my webstore and filling customer orders. Furthermore if rolling things back using the old files was so simple I would have never posted in the 1st place.

However since you obviously do not have any constructive answers for the technical issues, you entire response is moot.

My answer was valid.. rolling back IS as easy as uploading your backup store files, and restoring the database.. now if that is not constructive information and my entire response is MOOT, then so be it.. Wish ya luck..

And it DIDN'T cost ANY of the THOUSANDS of developers, programmers, designers, etc. ANY time or money to sit for THOUSANDS of hours developing this WONDERFUL shopping cart software, just so it could be GIVEN AWAY to people (even ones like you), who apparently doesn't appreciate ANY of that hard work that they done...............just to hear them whine about THEIR screw-ups. Yea...........THEIR, as almost every problem like this starts out with: "All I did was.............".
IF you follow ALL instructions found throughout this forum (and others), you should have NO problems.
IF you would have posted the ACTUAL warning(s) you are seeing.................maybe somebody can help you through it. BUT.................when you come in here, DON'T post what you're seeing, the site it can be seen on, and do NOTHING BUT kick Zen-Cart, you're also kicking almost every person in this forum, as most here have given at least a little of their TIME and/or MONEY to make this the best FREE shopping cart system that TIME can buy.........................you're not going to get anything back but the same "flames" that you're sending out!!

IF you don't know what you're doing........................well, DUH!!..........HIRE SOMEBODY!! Apparently it would be cheaper on you to do so, since OBVIOUSLY YOUR time is worth more than any of ours!! Then you can get back to work!

NOW............................If you want to chill out, relax a little, and quit knocking Zen-Cart and all of its' developers around like a football, post EXACTLY what you're seeing, a URL for us to look at your site....................guess what? YOU MIGHT GET SOME HELP!!!!!
    Teach them to shop and they will shop today;
Teach them to Zen and they will OWN a shop tomorrow!

YOU MIGHT GET SOME HELP!!!!! I say again re-loading the back up files did not work. If I knew what the hell was going on I would post it. Yes and people like me use the software, have contributed past donations to zen cart and for someone who is more knowlegable to automatically assume that I didn't follow instructions infuriates me. But I will say this if you don't know how to give constructive advice don't give any! As for me venting my frustration with zen cart it is what it is! I have been successfully working with this software for the last 5 to 6 years and although it has not been easy as there is a great deal of technical jargon that non-developers like myself have to sift through. And if I could afford to spend the money I would. But right now reading these types of responses when I am trying to figure out a way to fix something that is interfering with my primary source of income is a waste of time. And it is obvious that I am not the only one who is frustrated!

Do you, or do you NOT have a URL to this problematic site so we can SEE what is happening?

It is more than ok. I do not want or need your assistance. Fortunately not all of developers here respond to us "little people" the way you two do and I was able to actually get some good and helpful information from someone else.

Well, that's good since we REALLY didn't want to help somebody who does nothing but whine about how the software "isn't worth the stress", instead of NICELY asking for help........................BUT..............we ARE here to help, so I was going to try anyway......................WHY?................Because I'm really a nice guy! It just irks me to the bone when people want to B-I-T-C-H about the software they're using FOR FREE isn't good enough for them, when THEY are 99.999999999999% of the time the one to blame for the problem!

Besides................the ONLY question you even asked was "Is there a way to go back to an older version", in which NOBODY in their right mind is going to recommend doing that, since YEARS of work went into making this not only the most versatile (FREE) shopping cart software solution, but also THE SAFEST! So.................going back to a previous version is like begging hackers to hack your site, since older versions of ZC have KNOWN security issues! Believe it or not..............we DO care!!!..............even for the "RANTERS"!

Thanks, and have a good day.

By the way.................I really AM glad to hear you have solved your problem. Now it would be very nice of you to post what the ACTUAL problem was AND what the solution was that got it back "up and running" for others who may have the same problem.
