Yeah, definitely try on a test copy of your site. The slider comes with some default styling (index_home.css) and you'll just have to play with dimensions and positioning to get the same layout as you currently have, only with the addition of a slideshow. For example, you'll most likely need some negative top margin or something like that. I don't know, I'm just guessing... Nothing major, just some simple styling will be required. At least I think it will be required, you might like it out of the box...
