3 little stars in the shopping cart by an item?

I've done a quick search and can't find the answer...

I have a test user account on my new shop. I added the first item to the basket a week or two ago.

I logged back in this morning and added another item and 3 little stars appeared by it. It looks like a rating or something but seems odd that it would come up in the Cart.

I added a 3rd item to see if the stars appeared on that too and they didn't.

Any idea what they mean? I think they would be best turned off as it might confuse customers.

OK after more playing around it seems to be when the quantity is > 1.

How do you turn this off?

As far as I'm concerned it's the shopper's problem if they choose too many of something. And the stars just look weird to me. No other websites do that.

So, assuming, as the image says, that these stars appear when an order is placed for more items than you have in stock. You can edit admin>configuration>stock>mark product out of stock

Ahhh ok it's when someone orders more than is in stock, I get you.

I set all my stock to =1 so that explains that.

I am such a mong! Just understood what you mean by "as the image says"....it actually say "Items marked *** are out of stock". Didn't notice at all!
