How do I bulk-move all products from Sub-Category into a parent Category?

Hi,

I set up a sub-category of a product category and in hindsight it really shouldn't be a sub-category - visitors are going to a page with nothing there other than the sub-category name/image then having to enter the sub-category.

How do I move all the products (98) from sub-category into the main category, other than moving each product one by one using the move button. (tried using move button to move sub-category to main category but it is already there right !!

If you go to the Old Category, let's say that is categories_id 86 ... and click on C for copy ...

Now click on the Multiple Categories Link Manager ...

At the bottom of the screen are several boxes ... lets' say you want to move ALL products from the OLD categories_id 86 to the NEW categories_id 87 ...

Copy ALL Products in a Category as LINKED Products to another Category ...
Example: Using 8 and 22 would Link ALL Products in Category 8 to Category 22
Select All Products in Category: 86 Link to Category: 87

Then, use:

Reset ALL Products in the selected Category to use the selected Category as the new Master Categories ID ...
Example: Resetting Category 22 would set ALL Products in Category 22 to use Category 22 as the Master Category ID
Reset the Master Categories ID for All Products in Category: 87

Then use:

Remove ALL Products in a Category that are LINKED Products to another Category ...
Example: Using 8 and 22 would Unlink ALL Products in Category 8 from Category 22
Select All Products in Category: 86 Remove from being Linked to Category: 87

NOTE: before doing this, backup your database ...

NOTE: if you have NO Products in the NEW categories_id, you will see a RED message about invalid category during this process ... if you have 1 or more Products in the NEW category, you will see a green message during the process ...

Now go to the NEW categories_id and you should see all of the products have been moved and their master_categories_id have be set to the NEW category ...
