red flag HTML Editor for product descriptions all show blank

Hey all, I have recently upgraded a client's zen-cart from 1.3.9f to 1.5 , everything was working well except for one thing. With the HTMLArea editor removed (leaving us with no editor out of the box, why?) I went ahead and installed the CKEditor and TinyMCE addons. However neither editor works correctly, product descriptions are blank (even when clicking the source code button, no code). Define pages are blank as well, even though when I edit the file using a text editor there is content. And the product descriptions on the live catalog are present, that is up until ANY changes such as quantity are made, as soon as you click update, it wipes out the product description. Is there any "hack" to put the HTMLARea editor back?

Because of this , what seems to be a minor issue, I've had to revert back to the 1.3.9 fileset and was not paid by the client. Please help!!!

You should also do the same in your non-admin languages folder too. You DO NOT want to be mixing character-sets up (that's why things showed blank on you in the first place!!).

And to be clear, the "editor" has nothing to do with it. CKEditor or HTMLarea or TinyMCE etc would all have the same symptoms.

Thanks Dr, I compared both sets of language files and found that my catalog include was already set to "latin1", this was because I overwrote it during the upgrade, I was unaware that the file actually contained the mentioned settings.

I blame myself for not doing file compares and dropping in older files.

Good catch. I suggest you go back and make sure you add in anything (for the new version) that's missing from the old files (from the old version) you copied in.
