Getting rid of 'New Products'

I am getting a "New Products For October" and images of the latest items I entered into the site showing up on every single page. I went into admin/configuration and into several different options. I did find a place where I was able to get rid of any of the actual products from showing however, there is still "New Products For October - Category Name Here" showing up. What do I need to do to get rid of the new product listing entirely?

The new-products' display settings are sprinkled over a couple of Configuration groups: 1 in "Stock" and 4 in "Index Listing" ... then there's the sideboxes/whats_new.php sidebox that you can remove with Tools->Layout Boxes Controller.
