Theme is creating errors.

Hello all,

I have just started messing around with a new template. The template wont install, well it will but there are obviously errors, as it is just loading a black page.

I have tried to find the cache but cannot find this any where... so at the moment i do not have a clue what the error is.

I am using v1.3.9, my site where the page is being installed to is http://modernsigns.co.uk/phil (not sure if this will help).

I would be grateful for any information on why my host may be hiding the cache, or if there is a way round this... of can any one just tell me what the problem is.. ha ;)

Picaflor's templates do not overwrite any core files that I've yet seen, so the install should have been straight-forward without problems.

How long have you had your zencart, what template did you use before, what mods do you have that might contribute to the problem...and does it work when on the Classic template?

Thanks for the reply, this is the first installment of zen cart on this site, so its only been installed since yesterday. I have even tried removing it and installing again but no luck.


The template i used before was the classic one, and i can switch from that no problem. I also installed the same template as I use on another site and that works no problem http://discountvinylwallart.com. I'm really confused on this one.. its driving me mad.

I tested that TM free template some time ago; actually liked it. But I don't recall if it overwrites core files.

So I understand that you installed the TM template on the problem site? And that was before installing the Aberdeen Neutral template?

Look at the TM template files: did it perhaps overwrite some core functions? Or perhaps add some files generally that need the template to make zencart work properly? Can you completely remove the TM template?

As a more radical solution: if your cart was only put up yesterday, I might consider just deleting the whole cart and starting over. But that's me and I do that quite often when my testing demos get out-of-hand, sometimes it's just faster than trying to fix it. But on the other hand, we should learn how to fix problems without having to start over.

I only mention this since the cart is so new.

TM template (some of them) DO overwrite core files...

So what can happen is that when you install another template, that relies on CORE functions, those functions may no longer be where the new template code is looking for them. So it gives up and stubbornly presents you with a blank screen.

Looking in your CACHE folder for the latest error logs MIGHT give you pointers as to where the system is being held up, and in some cases you can "repair" the damage that TM templates are notorious for...
