    Default catalog Product/categories entries gone

    Hi, I have something I have not run across before. In upgrading carts I found this, it was showing in the 1.3.9h cart this way also. I thought with the new cart it would be gone.
    I have a product category folder shows 2 of 4 items active. When I open the folder to add more or even enable or disable the ones that are off, nothing is their, no product folders. Their is just a message on that page "Category has SubCategories
    Products cannot be added" and only offers the new category button. This is where the products should be or were at one time. The kicker is they still show in the carts front end so you can not remove them or turn them off. Ideas what may have happened and what I need to do to correct the problem.

    Hi,
    I see no one has answered this post. Searching the forum I found a couple of older post that were some what related but not quite the same and the fixes did not quite apply since they were for version 1.3.0
    Below is a link to the webpage where they are displayed but no way to access it on the admin side to reset the pics or even remove it.

    Hi All,
    Just an update to help all who my run into this problem.
    I have burned a dozen hours looking at all the post trying to find the right one that may apply with no avail so far.
    It has got to be related to the data base I assume because it followed the upgrade to 1.5.
    I placed a link to the site in the post above to see the front displayed.
    I have looked at products in the DB tables and all appears OK. ID's are in place.
    Just not what else to look for that could be upsetting things.
    It thinks that Products and category folders and in the same level in the admin area message.
    Is their a way spot this in the DB tables and then delete the offending folder it this is what is causing the problem?
    Really need some ideas. customer would like to add some items and we can't.

    I do not see any Products in categories_id 1 ...

    What are the categories_id on the subcategories that you see in the Admin?

    NOTE: Categories hold Categories or Products but not both ...

    What happens if you switch to the Classic Template?

    HI Ajeh,
    Thank you for the reply and help.
    I switched it and the results was the same.

    The Auto repair work folder has ID 1
    The Cycle work folder ID 2

    the cycle work folder has nothing in it at this time.
    The Auto Repair work folder reports 2 of 4 active.
    When you enter it you see nothing 0 categories, 0 Products. except the message
    NOTE: Category has SubCategories
    Products cannot be added.
    This was happening in the 1.3.9 version of the cart. I hoped the upgrade would fix it, alas no luck.
    Just not sure which way to go from here.

    Can you see any of your products in the Admin?

    If not, if you do a search in the Admin, do you see any of your products?

    Do you import your Products?

    How many Products do you think you have?

    If you go to phpMyAdmin and look at your database ...

    How many records are in:
    products
    products_description

    categories
    categories_description

    products_to_categories

    Thanks for the reply, sorry it took a bit to get back to this. When you where all the hats in a company it can get a bit hectic at times.

    Can you see any of your products in the Admin?

    NO

    If not, if you do a search in the Admin, do you see any of your products?

    YES, search takes me to the products showing on the front side

    Do you import your Products?
    NO

    How many Products do you think you have?
    2 folders in category, none in one and it says 2 of 4 in the other, but I think their are only suppose to be 2.



    If you go to phpMyAdmin and look at your database ...

    [B]How many records are in:

    products
    Looks like 5 records I have prod ID on 5 lines 1-5

    products_description

    5

    categories
    0-82 83 total
    categories_description
    4
    products_to_categories
    5

    As I stated I thought the problem lies within the DB and looking at the difference in these different items if they are suppose to match might explain the problem. Now just what to do to correct it?

    One of the main problems is you have:
    categories
    0-82 83 total
    categories_description
    4

    with only 4 categories_descriptions you are not seeing the other categories ...

    This makes it hard to know where the Products really belong ...

    If you look at the table:
    categories_description

    can you find a match to each of the categories_id that are in the table:
    categories

    If so, delete from the table:
    categories_description

    and record that does not have a match in the table:
    categories

    Next, look in the table:
    products_to_categories

    and make sure that the field:
    products_id
    categories_id

    are valid for the Products in:
    products

    and for the Categories in:
    categories
