Oxford Dark Template Support Thread

Anne I hope you can help me with this obnoxious problem....

I have never had this happen before with any template. It states that it can be used with 1.3.9h (her live store) so it got installed. I had installed/tweaked/edited it in a test 1.5 store for when she feels ready to upgrade and it worked beautifully.

From the get go it was problematic...it would not show online...you could see it listed in admin but total blank online...then suddenly it allowed the template to be seen. I have checked the directory and files permissions and all are chmodded right. Her host even set the permissions higher they said.

You can see the about us text at the top. It will not go away.

Now I went thru and deleted all its files (to make things go away), checked to make sure none got left behind and/or misplaced in other directories and still.....

the about us text at the top is there. nothing makes it go away. I even installed just that file into the current template and deleted the text from the admin area but it is still there. I have looked at the database and there is no mention of about us anywhere there either.

it doesn't show that it is in ANY file in the entire stores files so can't locate where it is showing from...it is a ghost of text...lol

When the page loads up you get a flash of a white background with the text (left aligned) then it loads the current template and the text is centered at the top.

Any idea of what to do now?

Since you don't have any of the template files on your server, it is obviously not a problem related to the template. My guess is that you have a corrupted file somewhere on your server.

Yes, really messed-up and I also haven't seen that before. Especially with a Picaflor template.

I did notice from your view source that the template is not Picaflor's oxford but a TM template "Theme277/css/stylesheet_tm.css". Is there some conflict with the templates?

Do your log files show anything re errors?

There is no problem with the template working with other templates, etc. There are no longer any files related to the template on the server so the problem is not related to this template.

Hi Steve,

No the template showing right now is the Theme277 since oxford did not want to work at all with 1.3.9h of zencart. I have removed all oxford files and this does not show in define pages at all.

I even uploaded the about us file into the theme277 then removed the text from the file and still it shows. admin dev tools says it is not located in any file neither in main files nor admin files, yet it shows itself there.

I have not been able to get rid of it and wanted to see if someone could give me a hint of something else to do.

It acts like it is living in some file on the server but I sure can't find it.

She would love to have it show and work in the live store, says it can be used in 1.3.9h and hopefully we can get it to behave but otherwise we doctored the template she has now.

My next step tomorrow night will be to replace all the core files with fresh ones to see if something is not kosher any more.

All of our templates are fully compatible with version 1.3.9x. and there are literally tens of thousands of users using the templates on this version of zen cart.

Well, I can't say the exact number for certain, but according to my google analytics backlink checker I am seeing really high numbers and I do think that most users take off the credit link to picaflor azul ;-)

After removing the files and still seeing the text I figured something was wonky with her store. I added the code to stylesheet that Steve suggested and it has disappear (hidden) for now...leaving a dark grey area near the uppermost edge of the pages.

Tonight I will deactivate that code then replace all the files for her store and see if that helps. I don't know what happened cause it worked flawlessly in her test 1.5 store but she is not ready to upgrade yet. On her 1.3.9 store it would not show up at all leaving us with a totally black not blank but black page with no images/text, nothing....yet still admin acknowledged it.

After making sure the directories were chmodded right and fixing an issue with her admin/graphs directory the template started half-working.

But still not quite like it should have so hope after the replacement of core files the store will be fine. Not having installed her TM template and she did not either but it was installed by her host, they are not forthcoming as to whether they installed with or without the sql.

About your estimate on your templates in use...I would not be surprised at the number cause they are beautifully made and ever so easy...just at times even my own freebie site and store like to give me trouble...lol

ok, now for the report. I removed the code in stylesheet that Steve gave me so that the text would show up. THEN I went into the ftp server files and deleted each and every file that came with the cart and reupped fresh new ones.

This still did not make the text go away but then I used the DTK once more with a sentence to look for and it did find it...so I went in and got rid f the file totally. Even with my uploading new files it was hiding in the theme277 stuff not the main files but would not show up in DTK at all.

I have since uploaded Oxford theme and then the edited files and she now has it in the store as the main template.

I do have a question about some text that I have gone through each css file but can't find where to change it. If you go to this page:

you will notice in the center boxes that there is some very pale text -- right beside the image I think it is the product name plus the more info link. I think I have found all links and made them the color we needed them to be (black or white) but this text eludes me.

If you could give this old woman a hint of where it might be hiding you will have made my day.

If you are getting a blank page or part of a blank page (seeing only the background ) then you need to check the /cache or /logs folder for errors and fix them. Make sure the /cache or /logs folder permissions are set to 777.

You can add this to the bottom of your stylesheet.css file:

.itemTitle a{color:#000;}

Thank you Anne, I will do this. You make beautifully and so wonderful and pretty templates. I personally am so happy to get her away from the TM template, those are so convoluted in their coding that it is super hard to edit and make the needed adjustments.
